How does the Preserve Stock Offset feature work?

To prevent selling products in your webshop that may already be out of stock with your supplier, you can use the Preserve Stock Offset setting. Simply go to your WordPress dashboard > [Plugin Name] tab > Synchronization > General Settings and enter a number in the offset field. Not sure how it works? Here’s why we introduced this setting and how it helps.

Many webshops use dropshipping plugins to access the same supplier catalog, creating competition for popular items, which can sell out quickly. For example, a product might show 8 items in stock, but it could be sold out in just minutes.

Additionally, suppliers usually update stock levels periodically (e.g., every 30 minutes). This delay means that your store may still display a product as “in stock” even if it’s already sold out with the supplier, leading to potential customer disappointment.

How the Preserve Stock Offset Helps:

Imagine you’re selling a popular product with limited stock. When the supplier shows 8 items in stock, other stores may sell it out before the next stock update. Without the offset, your store could still show it as available, and customers might place orders for an out-of-stock product. You’d only find out when attempting to fulfill the order, resulting in disappointed customers and lost revenue.

By setting the Preserve Stock Offset to, say, 10, you ensure that when the stock level reaches 10 or below, the product is marked as “out of stock” in your store. This buffer helps avoid overselling.

While we work to keep stock updates as timely as possible, the Preserve Stock Offset offers an extra layer of protection, reducing customer disappointment and safeguarding your sales reliability.
