Introduction

In this article, we will explain how to publish unique products to bol.com. With the latest version of the bol.com plugin, you can now upload products with EAN codes that do not have any existing content on the bol.com platform yet, meaning you are the first seller to offer them.

Because bol.com has no prior data for these items, you must provide the product content, which bol.com will review and approve before your listings go live.

EAN Code Requirements for Unique Products

Every unique product requires a valid, unused EAN (European Article Number) to be listed. These codes are not generated automatically.

  • Where to get EAN codes: You must purchase them from an official, reputable provider. The most globally recognized source is GS1.

  • Variations: Keep in mind that every unique product variation (such as different sizes or colors) requires its own individual EAN code.

  • Validation: Without a correct and valid EAN, bol.com will automatically reject your product listing.

Step 1: Enable product content in the plugin

Before you can upload unique product data, you need to turn on the content features within your plugin settings:

  1. Navigate to your plugin settings in the WordPress backend.

  2. Click on the Product Content tab.

  3. Check the box to enable the option Upload new products.

  4. Choose your preferred Content language (Dutch or French).

  5. Select how often the data model file with product classifications should be retrieved from bol.com (Weekly or Monthly).
