How does VVB work and how to configure it?

In this article, we’ll provide an overview of what VVB is, how it functions, and how to set it up in the plugin.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

What is VVB?

Verzenden via bol.com (VVB) is a shipping service provided by bol.com that allows sellers to utilize bol.com’s logistics network to handle deliveries. Instead of managing shipping entirely on their own, sellers can rely on bol.com’s partnerships with trusted carriers to streamline the delivery process.

What does VVB mean?

When sellers opt for VVB, bol.com takes over significant aspects of the shipping logistics, such as:

  • Offering attractive shipping rates negotiated with carriers.

  • Managing carrier performance to ensure reliable and timely deliveries.

  • Providing flexible shipping options, including same-day and evening deliveries (depending on the service level).

Sellers are responsible for either dropping off packages or arranging for pickup, depending on their chosen arrangement. Bol.com handles the rest, including tracking and customer communication about delivery.

Key Benefits

  1. Cost Savings: Sellers benefit from bol.com’s discounted shipping rates, which are often cheaper than arranging shipping independently.

  2. Streamlined Operations: Bol.com manages the carrier relationships and ensures high service levels, saving sellers time and effort.

  3. Enhanced Customer Satisfaction: With features like same-day or evening delivery, sellers can provide their customers with a superior delivery experience.

  4. Increased Focus on Sales: By outsourcing logistics to bol.com, sellers can concentrate on other aspects of their business, like product listings and customer service.

Configure VVB in the plugin

There are two ways to configure VVB for your products:

  • In the plugin's general settings

  • On product level

Configure VVB in the general settings

To configure VVB in the plugin settings, please follow these steps:

  1. In your WordPress backend, click on the plugin icon to go to the settings

  2. Click on the Authorization tab

  3. Then click on the Delivery Time dropdown menu

  4. Choose VVB as the delivery time

  5. Lastly, click on Save Changes

Important: if the options are greyed out, please revoke the plugin authorization. When you are done, authorize the plugin back.

You have now configured VVB as a fulfillment method in the plugin settings, this means all new products published to bol.com will have VVB as a fulfillment method.

Configure VVB on product level

Let's say you handle shipping yourself for most of your products but still want to publish one or more products to be VVB, you can still configure this on the product level. This will overwrite the general settings. To do this, please follow these steps:

  1. In your WordPress backend, go to the WooCommerce Product page

  2. Edit a product of your choice

  3. Scroll down to Product Data and click on the Bol.com tab

  4. Look for the checkbox Manage Delivery Time

  5. In the dropdown, choose VVB

  6. Lastly, Update your product
