This User Guide will explain everything you need to know, before starting with our Marktplaats Pro WooCommerce plugin version 1.5.0 or higher.

Marktplaats.nl is a website for businesses and consumers and mainly used for selling second-hand products. Publishing an advertisement on the website of Marktplaats, can be done for free normally. However, Marktplaats als has a paid model which is called Marktplaats Pro.

Marktplaats Pro offers premium features to publish an ad, such as: links to a product page/website, contact details, direct messages via email, premium ad positions and many more. Besides Marktplaats has 8.2 million visitors per day, which gives you a nice platform to sell your product.

To be able to start with advertising on Marktplaats, you will first need to sign up for a Marktplaats Pro account. You can sign up for free via the website of Marktplaats.

After creating an account at Marktplaats Pro, you can immediately start advertising via the Marktplaats website and reach millions of visitors.

Before you can start publishing advertisments to the Marktplaats website, you should connect the Marktplaats Pro WooCommerce plugin with your Marktplaats Pro account. There you will notice the plugin is asking for an username and password. This are the exact same username and password, as used for log in to your Marktplaats Pro account.

As with all our software, usage of our plugins requires an active Woosa license key. Follow our Getting Started article activating your Woosa license key to make sure your license key is activated before you start any processes with our plugins.

Marktplaats offers different price types (e.g. a fixed price or a negiotiable price). The general setting of the price type will make sure this price type will be used as default for each advertisement, that has been published from WooCommerce to Marktplaats Pro.

Are you selling the product as a company or private person? This determines the salutation.

Which seller name would you like to show on the Marktplaats advertisement. In case of a company we advise you to use the company name.

Marktplaats offers two (2) ways of shipping the product:

With regards to the content of the advertisement, the most room will be given in the description of the advertisement. By default we use the product description for this to Marktplaats. However, you might want to add some call to actions to the advertisement instead of general information only.

For example information about your business, average delivery time, discounts, other products etcetera. For this you can use the Footer description, which will automatically be place at the bottom of each advertisement description.

Since a lot of consumers are visiting Marktplaats.nl to search for second-hand products, it can be useful to add your contact details. When having a Marktplaats Pro account you will be able to share at least the information below.

Publishing an advertisement on Marktplaats Pro can give you a lot of sales. It can happen that a product will run out of stock. In this case you might not want the advertisement online, since a potential sale can’t be delivered. When you enable this checkbox, our plugin will automatically pause the advertisement when the WooCommerce product is out of stock.

Is it back in stock again? We’ll activate the advertisement again!

When publishing an advertisement, it is mandatory to choose a category. The category mapping functionality saves you time, since you can connect WooCommerce categories to Marktplaats categories.

For example; Marktplaats uses the following category structure:

You can easily connect this with an own structure of WooCommerce categories, like the example below.

Cost per Click (CPC) is the business model of Marktplaats Pro. This means when someone clicks on your website URL from a Marktplaats advertisement, you will pay a couple of cents. The exact amount is decided by a couple of parameters, such as: category, popularity of product and competitors.

The maximum CPC can be configured in the category mapping setting. If your CPC is to low, it can happen that your advertisement will not be shown to often, because other competitors are having a higher CPC. Choose therefore wise, what you would like to spend on a click and potential sale.

To enable to synchronisation between WooCommerce and Marktplaats Pro for an advertisement, you must publish the product from WooCommerce to Marktplaats Pro. You can do this by following the steps below:

If the product shows error in the Marktplaats column, you will need to fix something first. To see the entire error message Click on the product > Scroll down to Product data > Click the Marktplaats tab. Consult our list of Marktplaats errors to see which error you have and how to solve it.

Already selling products on Marktplaats?
​ Our plugin will not recognise these products. We advise you to delete the current advertisements and publish the new ones through our plugin instead.

Did you edit a WooCommerce product and want the changes to also be applied on the Marktplaats advertisement? In that case you need to manually trigger the update action.

Marktplaats advises to never delete an advertisement, only pause them. In this way all the data will be stored and can be used later on, once you decided to activate the advertisement again. In this way your selling results will stay similar or become even better. To pause an advertisement manually from within WooCommerce, follow the steps below.

Like explained earlier, Marktplaats advises not to delete an advertisement because you will lose all relevant data. However, there is still a possibility to delete the advertisement. This can be useful if you are certain not selling that product ever again for example.

The general settings you have configured, might not be applicable on all products. Therefore you can override individual products and Marktplaats parameters, from within the WooCommerce product. Go to WooCommerce > Products > Click on a product > Scroll down to the Product data section > Click the Marktplaats tab. All fields that are changed in this tab, will override the general settings.

The Marktplaats Pro WooCommerce plugin will use the following content field by default, to be used for the advertisement.

You will be able to adjust the content to make it more commercial by using the footer description and seperate advertisement title.

During each process it is possible that you will get errors. Luckily for every error there is a solution. Check our list of errors to solve them yourself, without the support of our specialists.

Clear cache

In some cases cache can block seeing actual differences in your shop. Therefore it can be useful to clear the cache. In this case the clear cache functionality is solely applicable on everything related to our bol.com WooCommerce plugins.
